Proximity Sensor Disabler is a systemless module that disables supported proximity sensor functions or removes Android's advertised proximity feature when a direct vendor switch is unavailable.
Control Proximity Behavior
The installer selects its method after inspecting the device's sensor libraries.
Vendor properties
Sets supported Qualcomm, Sony, or vendor proximity properties to false.
Feature overlay
Hides the Android proximity hardware feature when no known vendor switch is found.
Fusion option
Can disable only a supported proximity fusion path through an optional installer setting.
Requirements and device behavior
The upstream README supports Magisk, Kitsune Mask, KernelSU, and APatch. During installation the script scans sensor libraries for known property names. It removes the feature overlay when a vendor property is available; otherwise the overlay removes android.hardware.sensor.proximity from Android's declared capabilities.
These methods depend on the firmware. A hardware sensor can still exist and report data even when Android no longer advertises it to applications.
Optional fusion mode
Setting proximity.disabler=fusion in the author's optionals.prop requests fusion-only behavior. The installer checks for vendor.sensor.proximity_fusion.enabled and aborts if that interface is absent. In this mode it leaves the physical proximity property and hardware feature untouched.
Installation
- Obtain the module package through the distribution route documented by the author.
- Install it with Magisk, Kitsune Mask, KernelSU, or APatch. Recovery installation is documented only when Magisk or Kitsune Mask is already installed.
- Reboot and test calls, always-on display, and pocket detection on the target firmware.
Limitations
A change to the advertised feature may disable proximity dependent app behavior without powering down the sensor. The module does not repair damaged hardware. If call screens or gestures behave unexpectedly, disable the module and reboot before changing other sensor settings.
