AudioFX LineageOS ports the LineageOS AudioFX application and global sound-effect components to supported rooted devices on Android 6 or newer. It integrates at the Android audio-framework level, but conflicts with Samsung's Sound Alive effect unless that component is handled separately.
LineageOS Audio Controls on Other ROMs
The module supplies the AudioFX interface and registers its processing as a global Android sound effect.
AudioFX Interface
Provides the familiar LineageOS equalizer application for selecting and adjusting the effects exposed by the port.
Global Effect
Registers with the system sound-effect configuration so processing is not tied to a single bundled media player.
Recovery Command
The included afx terminal command can start the AudioFX service when it does not activate automatically during playback.
Setup Requirements
- Android 6 (SDK 23) or later and a supported root manager.
- Do not use a module that disables the stock AOSP sound-effect libraries required by this port.
- When combining AudioFX with another sound mod, install Audio Modification Library as directed by upstream.
- KernelSU users may need a supported mount metamodule and must allow the packages listed in the module's
package.txt, including the home launcher as documented.
Compatibility and Troubleshooting
Samsung One UI and TouchWiz include Sound Alive, which conflicts with this global effect. Upstream instructs Samsung users to use its Sound Alive Effect Remover together with AML; installing AudioFX alone is not the documented configuration.
If playback is active but the effect is not processing, try the upstream service command:
