What is KernelSU Next?

KernelSU Next is a powerful continuation of the KernelSU project. It is a rooting solution that lives completely inside the Android Kernel, as opposed to operating in the userspace like conventional tools.

Because it hooks directly into the core layer of the operating system, it grants the absolute highest level of privileges. This kernel-level integration makes it fundamentally invisible to standard root-checking applications (such as banking apps, enterprise tools, or competitive games).

The Next variant introduces highly requested community features, most notably SuList integration and optimized module compatibility, offering a seamless balance between limitless customization and enterprise-grade security without needing complex hiding frameworks.

Why Choose KernelSU Next?

Discover the unique advantages of KernelSU Next and why it stands out in the modern Android modification ecosystem.

Ultimate Root Hiding

Since KernelSU Next operates exclusively in the kernel, user-space applications cannot detect its presence. You no longer need fragile hide lists or constant updates to bypass SafetyNet, Play Integrity, or strict banking app detections.

Advanced SuList Feature

The standout feature of the Next fork. SuList flips the paradigm by ensuring that only explicitly selected apps can even see that root exists. Everything else runs in a completely isolated, unrooted environment by default.

Robust Module Support

Fully compatible with modern systemless modules via OverlayFS. You can safely modify system properties, install custom fonts, audio frameworks, or performance tweaks without ever touching the real read-only /system partition.

Native GKI Support

Engineered specifically for modern Android devices utilizing the Generic Kernel Image (GKI) architecture (Android 12 and above). This ensures maximum stability, fewer bootloops, and seamless kernel updates.

High Security

KernelSU Next rigorously protects su access directly from the kernel level. Malicious applications attempting to exploit user-space vulnerabilities are physically unable to hijack your root permissions.

Community Driven

Born from the open-source community, KernelSU Next ensures rapid bug fixes, transparent code, and active implementation of features requested by power users on GitHub, keeping your device on the bleeding edge.

System Requirements & Info

Bootloader

Your device bootloader must be officially unlocked to allow the flashing of unsigned custom kernel images securely.

GKI Kernel

Your smartphone must be running a GKI kernel. This is typically standard for devices launched out-of-the-box with Android 12 or newer versions.

Flashing Tool

You need a PC with ADB and Fastboot fully installed, or a functioning custom recovery (like TWRP or OrangeFox) to flash the AnyKernel3 ZIP file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Magisk operates by heavily modifying the ramdisk to run in the userspace, meaning advanced detection algorithms can theoretically find traces of its environment. KernelSU Next, on the other hand, strategically patches the kernel directly, operating far below the userspace. This profound architectural difference makes KernelSU Next incredibly difficult for banking apps, enterprise security protocols, and strict multiplayer games to detect.

While the original project is fantastic, KernelSU Next is a modernized, community-driven fork designed to quickly implement features that power users desperately need. The most significant addition is the SuList feature (similar to Magisk's DenyList, but works as an allowlist), which provides infinitely better control over which applications are permitted to know about your root status.

Absolutely! KernelSU Next has been painstakingly engineered to maintain excellent backward compatibility with the vast majority of Magisk modules. Standard modules that modify system UI, install custom fonts, or replace audio files will work perfectly out of the box. However, for modules that specifically rely on Magisk's internal Zygisk implementation, you will simply need to install the powerful ZygiskNext module within the KSU Next Manager first.

The installation is very straightforward and offers two reliable pathways. First method: If you already have a functional custom recovery like TWRP installed, you can simply flash the compiled AnyKernel3 ZIP file. Second method: You can extract and manually flash the specific GKI boot.img for your exact device model via fastboot commands using your PC. Once the kernel is successfully flashed, simply install the KernelSU Next Manager APK to control your new root environment.
