This page is about getting the KernelSU Next manager onto an Android Studio emulator with working root. KernelSU Next AVD has no APK of its own: its scripts download the official KernelSU Next manager, use it to patch the emulator, then install it there.
Which manager APK gets installed
By default the script looks for KernelSU.apk in Apps/ or next to itself, and downloads the latest KernelSU Next release if neither is there. You can override that:
ci=<run id or URL>: take the manager from an upstream Build Manager CI run before it's released. GitHub deletes those artifacts after 90 days, and the script tells you if one is missing.spoofed: use the spoofed package-ID variant of the manager, also from CI when combined withci=.apk=<path>: use any APK you have, including one you built yourself.
Order of priority: apk=, then ci=, then a file in Apps/, then the latest release. An APK without lib/<abi>/libksud.so is rejected before anything is pushed, because ksud is extracted from it.
Granting root to apps
After the cold boot, the manager should show Working (LKM Mode). Root is opt-in: no app, and not even adb shell, gets it until you grant it in the Superuser tab. For the shell, turn on Show system apps and grant Shell.
Installing your other apps
Drop any APKs into the Apps/ folder and run:
./ksuAVD.sh InstallApps
ksuAVD.bat InstallAppsOnly the Android 16 emulator has been confirmed working so far; Android 15 currently fails.
